2017 Argon 18 Electron
Better than ever, the 2017 Electron from Argon 18 is completely redesigned for your fixed gear delight.
The Electron features triple butted 3005 Thermo Tech aluminum, a material that is super light and easy to work with. That said, Argon 18 created a significantly lighter frame, that is also more aerodynamically efficient than before. That carries over to a carbon fiber fork, which has a bladed shape to keep the front end fast and light with predictive steering.
The Electron utilizes track geometry that is also size specific giving you a well balanced fit in every frame size with no compromise. The bottom bracket drop is minimal giving it extra bottom bracket clearance for tight turning. The short wheelbase combined with the short chain stays gives the bike a feeling of instantaneous acceleration, with no power lost..This year the head tube and seat tube angle are steeper to result in razor sharp handling and increased nimbleness as well as better aerodynamics as the riding position is slanted forward.
The bottom bracket is English threaded, giving riders a wide variety of Bottom brackets and cranks to choose from. Also, the seat post is reversible giving you the option to run a more aggressive pursuit style position.
There are also features that are shared by the whole Argon 18 lineup such as the Threaded 3D System, the Argon Fit System, and Optimal Balance.
The threaded 3D system offers three different head tube heights with each frame size. The different heights can influence comfort and stiffness. At 25mm stiffness is increased by 11% This is achieved without spacers. You can achieve your desired handlebar height with less additional spacers keeping the front end cleaner looking as well.
The Argon Fit system has its roots in Gervais Rioux’s vast experience as a professional cyclist and a bike shop owner, not to mention years of extensive research and development. It’s aim is to provide all riders, regardless of size or preferred racing style, with consistent performance and optimal ergonomics.
With roots in velodrome racing, the Electron can also be found at home on the streets, zipping through traffic in a metropolitan area. From turning left at the local velodrome, or challenging your friends at your favorite urban racing loops, the Electron will do it all.
