2019 Wilier Cento10NDR Rim Brake
If you love the technology behind the Wilier Cento10NDR with the technopolymer damper to protect your rear end from rough vibrations, but want to stick with your rim brake wheels, then you’ll be really happy to see that Wilier has built in a lot of adaptability to their NDR platform.
They have done this by including direct mount rim brake bolts and the necessary cable ports into the frame and fork, while also including adapters that let you switch between disc brake and rim brake axle standards. So can decide whether to run it with disc brakes, or order it in this rim brake option. In either case, the Cento10NDR is the endurance offering from Wilier which means that it has a more relaxed geometry than the Cento10Pro. It is meant for people who want to take extensive rides over a variety of road surfaces. In the rim brake setup, you can run up to 28mm tires, which will keep the road comfort level high without adding too much rotational weight with the rubber.
The most noticeable feature of the Cento10NDR has to be the Actiflex dampening connector between the seatstays and the seat tube. It actually is an aluminum link at that junction that holds a technopolymer. They design works to offer a few millimeters of travel that will absorb the roughness of kinderkopf style cobbles. And since the technopolymer can function in temperatures from -40°C to +150°C, it will not be impacted by even the most extreme temperatures we may find on the roads. It also comes in three different densities to make it customizable according to the size and weight of the rider. But don’t think of it like suspension, exactly, since you will not feel the up and down movement. Wilier wanted to isolate the rider from the roughness of the road, and so the rear triangle moves without affecting the distance of the rider to the bottom bracket. Basically, you’ll hardly notice it, except you will be amazed at how comfortable your rides will become.
But this is not a bike that Wilier thinks you’ll just want to bum around on. They want it to be the type of bike that will put you in a racing mood, and help you keep the pace up when you hit those ubiquitous rough roads outside of town. They have given the same attention to keeping it aero as the Cento10Pro. So you get the truncated Kamm tail shapes that offer a slippery leading edge, and eliminate the extended tail to improve weight savings while losing nothing of the effective airflow.
The front end integration also offers huge benefits with the hourglass shape of the head tube working with the special shape of the bearings to make sure all wiring remains inside the tubes and away from the wind, keeping the front looking very clean and sleek. The setup will work with electric and mechanical groupsets. And Wilier then has integrated bars to complete the effect. All very neatly done and will make you happy every time you look down while riding.
With the adaptability to rim brake capabilities, 28mm wide tires, comfortable geometry and rear dampening technology, the Wilier Cento10NDR will be the perfect combination of race ready responsiveness and long distance road worthiness.
