2020 Pinarello Prince FX Disk Easy Fit
Though the advent of monocoque carbon frames often forced a reduction in the number and variety of sizes a company could offer, since carbon molds are seriously expensive, Pinarello is a company that has continuously bucked that trend. This is a trend where smaller riders have suffered the most since invariably a bike brand will strike the smaller sizes off their list in order to save a bit of investment cash. But with Pinarello, not only are their frames typically available in 10 to 13 sizes, they have also developed an off-shoot of each frame called their Easy Fit range. The Pinarello Prince FX Disk Easy Fit is a prime example of this effort, where not only does it come in smaller sizes, but the actual geometry has been adjusted to suit riders of smaller persuasions.
Geometry adjustments in particular revolve around the reach and stack measurements. With the reach a touch shorter and the stack a tick higher, the Easy Fit will work much better for women riders who often have shorter upper bodies and arms relative to male riders of similar sizes. But just because the dimensions have been sized down, that doesn’t mean the quality has taken a similar hit. It will offer the same carbon fiber as the Prince FX, with the T900 receiving the a-symmetric layup where the drivetrain side receives a sturdier layup than the non-drivetrain side to account for the greater forces exerted on the side with the drivetrain. The frame shape is the same with the Pinarello FlatBack profile enhancing the aerodynamics without turning it into a bone rattler. The Onda fork and seatstays will also help enhance the comfort levels softening the ride without losing the rigidity. And the inclusion of disc brakes will mean that this is a road bike for all situations, especially since the Prince FX Disk Easy Fit can sport up to 28mm tires for greater comfort, just like the unisex version.
It will be ready to offer a very responsive ride especially with the smaller rear triangle. Since the seatstays hit much lower on the seat tube it will tighten up the ride making sure all accelerations get the most out of the power you are putting down. While the handling will be as stable and sharp as ever with the Onda Fork. Pinarello has included their “fork flaps” which are essentially little fairings to the rear of the dropout to increase stiffness and enhance the aerodynamics.
The Pinarello Prince FX Disk Easy Fit comes in four sizes, from 44cm to 52.5cm. If you are a smaller rider, this version will simply give you that much more choice in what you want to ride since the quality and comfort are equal between the Easy Fit and regular versions. It’s just one more way Pinarello is trying to help you love your ride.
