2020 Pinarello GAN 105 Bike
Everyone likes a good deal. And though it can be hard to find a top quality Italian road bike for what could be considered a steal, the Pinarello GAN complete with Shimano 105 components will offer you the type of ride and performance that will make you feel ready for the Tour de France, but at a price that will keep you out of the dog house with any non-cycling family members.
We can be confident that this will be a top-performing bike for you because both Pinarello and Shimano have done an excellent job of trickling down the technology from their stratospherically priced frames and components to make the GAN and the 105 ride and feel so nice without losing any of the snappy acceleration of smooth shifting. You might be gaining a little weight, but in practical terms, you’ll be hard pressed to tell the difference.
The GAN takes its inspiration from the Pinarello F8, which results in things like wind tunnel tested tube shapes. So much so, that from a distance it can be difficult to tell the difference between an F8 and GAN. The GAN will have the same Flatback tube shapes for a lightweight, aero profile. The GAN also uses Pinarello’s special asymmetric frame design which means that the Toray T600 carbon layup is sturdier on the drivetrain side compared to the non-drivetrain side to account for the greater forces exerted on the side with the drivetrain. The GAN’s geometry might be a little more relaxed than the F8 or F10, but will still be aggressive enough to keep you near the front of your mass start sportifs or Gran Fondos.
The GAN is meant to be the type of bike that you can take on longer endurance rides since it will give you that extra bit of compliance and relaxed position, but still will be snappy enough to thrash out a winning sprint in your weekend crit race. Since it is a racing bike, it fits up to 23mm tires, which might seem a little narrow for some tastes, but will be perfect for fast racing.
Available in ten sizes and four colors, there is surely a Pinarello GAN that fits your height and tastes. The Shimano 105 components and Fulcrum wheels will combine to make this a race-ready package that will be serious fun to ride.
