2018 Pinarello Dogma K10
If you felt a little deflated when you saw that the latest Dogma F10 could accommodate only up to 25mm wide tires, then you should be pretty excited to see that the folks over at Pinarello have not forgotten you and your comfort-oriented preferences with the Dogma K10. As the latest installment for their endurance line that is really capable of riding anything from Paris-Roubaix to the longest leg of your local Gran Fondo, the Pinarello Dogma K10 is an endurance oriented bike with an undeniable racing pedigree.
Considering most of us aren’t training so that we can race up the Izoard fast enough so that we catch a time bonus on the line, the K10 is probably the uber-perfect bike for our mix of practical and ambitious cycling needs. Following in the F10’s steps, it makes use of the Toray T1100 1K carbon fiber layup that keeps the frame light and rigid. Sticking with the asymmetric layering that has become a hallmark of Pinarello frames, the K10 has the same layup that helps the F10 feel so responsive when accelerating and unquestionably rigid whether you are sprinting for the stage win or pushing your boundaries on long, technical descents. You’ll also get the benefit of the subtle aero profiling that the F10 sports, so that the oversized down tube with the flattened kammtail or FlatBack as Pinarello calls it will, along with the seat tube give you an aero advantage without suffering an unforgivingly jarring ride. Using the same F10 Onda fork, with the aero “fork flaps” will make sure your front end will feel secure and balanced while absorbing tons of road chatter before it reaches your hands and wrists.
The geometry has been appropriately tweaked in relation to the F10 with the wheelbase getting a touch longer thanks to the chainstays, enhancing stability while the stack is higher and the reach is shortened with a slackened headtube angle. And maybe most excitingly for anyone interested in longer tours that may involve a bit of hardpack dirt roads, the fork and rear stays accommodate 28mm tires. If you do like to venture onto washboard dirt roads on occasion, then you will be pleased that the chainstays receive special attention with a flattened shape to enhance vertical compliance while the seatstays and seat tube have a FlatBack shape for aero but also a carbon layup that helps absorb road vibrations before they reach your hindquarters.
Aside from that, you can count on all the neat frame integration like the Shimano Di2 junction box hiding space in the down tube, internal cable routing for a clean look, an Italian threaded bottom bracket and a whopping ten sizes from which to choose your perfect fit. The Pinarello Dogma K10 will cover your bases whether you are going for crit racing or Gran Fondo training.
