2017 Passoni Top Force
If you equate titanium with touring, then you should take another look at the Passoni Top Force. This is a titanium bike that is built for pure racing. Lightweight, responsive and still very comfortable, it will help the carbon scales fall from your eyes.
From the aggressive, compact geometry to the oversized tubes, this is a bike that is made for race situations. And it is such an impressive, elite looking bike that you better be ready to race since all your friends and particularly your enemies will want to rip your legs off when you roll up to the start line with this. But that’s oaky since it is such a great climber as well as solid descended that you will never having any trouble responding to those jealous attacks. This is a bike that wants to be pushed, and will feel perfect when you are willing to push yourself as well.
Forget any rumors about titanium bikes lacking race-worthy stiffness and rigidity. The Top Force has been made primarily from grade 9 titanium, which is particularly durable containing 3.0% aluminum and 2.5% vanadium that allows them to find that perfect mix between an easily weldable material and a super strong alloy. They can make it work according to different thicknesses, rigidities, and compliance. And in this case, they are aiming to give the frame a lightweight strength thanks in no small part to the 48 mm Bi-oval down tube, so that even the big-legged sprinters will be pleased with the results.
And then, as with all Passoni bikes, the cleanness and purity of the welding will add just that much more to the pleasure factor. Passoni believe that by doing the welding in a vacuum using a secret mixture of gases, not only it the integrity of the weld upheld, but the beauty as well. For those areas that will take the brunt of the heavy cycling forces, like the bottom bracket, headtube and the dropouts, Passoni have used a CNC machined grade 5 titanium, which gives the frame builder the very desirable combination of strength, weldability and corrosion resistance. The BSA treading for the bottom bracket will then help keep the frame efficient and easy to maintain.
For the rear triangle, Passoni uses tube sizes and shapes with tapered seatstays and ovaled, tapered chainstays to guarantee the ideal level of compliance while not allowing any flex to hamper your hard accelerations. The expert workmanship and attention to detail is evident in everything down to the dropouts, which have been made from the seriously strong CNC’d grade 5 titanium while retaining a pleasing shape and working with a replaceable hanger so that you can be sure any unwanted tumbles will not result in the hanger damaging the frame.
The hand glazed finish is the perfect foil for anyone who likes an understated look but is completely bored with the matte black carbon bikes that proliferate the Saturday morning rides. The Passoni Top Force is a pure bred racing bike made from titanium. Lightweight, rigid and comfortable, you will feel pleased to head out on short rides or long epics enjoying its efficient yet plush ride.
