2015 Parlee Z2
For those of you who like a more traditional, non-sloping style of frame, the Parlee Z2 is the semi-custom answer to your old-skool desires. It’s an excellent way to get the benefits of the many customizable options available with the Z1, but while saving a touch on the cost side.
That’s not to say that you will be required to make any compromises in fit. The Parlee Z2 offers a huge range of sizes and options for anyone who wants a high performing bike with a less than two degree slope. Since Parlee has been in the business of making custom bikes for a while, they have a lot of customer size data to inform their “stock” size options. Back data of tube lengths and joining angles have encouraged them to make the Z2 offered in five Flex Fit cap semi-custom sizes, which allows you to decide how tall you want your head tube to be, raising or lowering your stack according to your comfort levels and riding style. You will also be able to choose the type of tube set you want to use, from the SL super light, to the XL super stiff, or the CL comfy compliant, as well as the X-woven which simply looks amazing. With all that choice, the Z2 will be a bike that is made specifically for you: your height, your weight, your reach, your preferred handling and comfort levels. All is controllable in the customizing process.
The Z2 is built using the same tube sets and techniques as the Z1, Parlee can also modify cable stop placement, route Di2 or EPS internally, build eTap frames with no drillings and add eyelets, pump pegs and bottle mounts. With all the choice, you can turn your Z2 into a long distance tourer, or a snappy, aggressive crit slayer. Though you can special order an English threaded bottom bracket if you are particularly tied to that style, the standard Press Fit 30 bottom bracket forms the heart of the frame and works well with the advanced tube shaping as well as compatibility with most cranks on the market. If you want to build it up with Shimano Di2 or Campagnolo EPS, they can make it internally routed. And then of course a custom paint job will also be an option.
The Z2 can accommodate tires up to 28mm wide, so you can make use of those much more comfortable options especially if you are planning on taking this on long Gran Fondos or even thinking of joining a Transcontinental trek one of these days.
The Parlee Z2 will be the semi-custom dream bike that will help you fulfill all your cycling goals in style.
