2020 Orbea Orca OMR
Finding the right racing bike for you is always an exercise in finding the right balance: weight to strength, stiffness to compliance, price to performance. All these things matter. The Orbea Orca OMR represents the bike in the Orbea lineup that is for those riders who want the absolute best all-around performance out of their racing machine.
The Orca OMR is a monocoque beauty made with top quality Toray carbon fiber expertly layered to keep the ride comfortable and compliant while offering all the rigidity that a WorldTour level rider would need. They don’t mean to be snobbish and exclusive, but this has been developed to be a pure racing machine that will always have more to give. Building the frame out from the mega BB386 bottom bracket, the Orbea designers have made the head tube, down tube, and chainstays super resistant to torsional pressures so that there is absolutely no flex when you put the hammer down. Expert use of the Toray carbon, right down to laser cut prepreg carbon sheets, will ensure that the various high quality carbon fiber sheets are laid exactly where they will do the most good, while there using a minimum of material to keep weight down.
Their knowledge of how to layup the carbon means that they can use the seat stays and top tube to work to dampen the road chatter without losing the feeling of communicating with the road. Then the Freeflow monocoque carbon fork works to absorb the vibrations before reverberating to your hands, while also providing one of the keys to the enhanced aerodynamics of this updated Orca. Its bow-legged shape calms the airflow between the rotating wheels and the interior of the fork blade. And the full carbon tapered steerer tube will ensure the front end feels super solid even when whipping it around twisty alpine descents. The race-oriented geometry will get you easily into your tightest tuck to make the most of your speed.
The 27.2mm diameter for the seat tube will make finding your ideal seat post much easier, and things like internal cable routing for both mechanical and electronic groupsets will keep this machine looking slick no matter how you spec it out. WorldTour-ready, it has been designed to work with a power meter as well. No one is asking you to taste blood every ride from pushing yourself so hard, but this is a bike that is begging to be tested.
Whether you are looking for the type of bike that will ripe around your crit courses, or want to take this baby deep into the high mountains, the Orbea Orca OMR will keep up with you every pedal stroke of the way. Available in seven sizes with the option of customizing the paint through the MyO color selection process, the Orca OMR can be the bike to reflect your riding style and personality.
