2017 Moots Vamoots Disc RSL
Though you might not see a Moots sponsoring a pro team, that doesn’t mean that you should think of the Vamoots Disc RSL as anything but a pure racer. Of course, what makes the Vamoots Disc RSL so spectacular is that it is so much more than a racing bike: it’s a means to a beginning. The beginning of the road and the adventure that calls every cyclist.
If you are a passionate racer, then the Vamoots Disc RSL will be a great bike for you since it offers a lightweight build that belies the rigidity you will enjoy as you put in the race winning attack. They butt their tubes to keep the weight down and the stiffness waltzing seamlessly with the compliancy, so you can enjoy the snappy acceleration and then marvel at how un-shattered you feel at the end of a long ride. It’s a magically balanced bike to ride largely because Moots knows the most intimate details of how to work with their titanium frames. And when you combine the butted tube set with Moot’s tapering technology, it maximizes the press fit 30 bottom bracket stiffness for quick acceleration. The 3D printed dropout and brake mount adds a bit of pizzazz to the rear end, while enhancing the appearance since it makes it possible to bring the brake inside the rear triangle for a cleaner look.
To ensure the front end is rigid and responsive enough to handle the different forces resulting from the powerful disc brakes, Moots makes a 44mm diameter head tube so that you will have the pleasure and security of being able to rely on the rigid and predictable handling. And though Moots has mastered the use of titanium for their frames, they still have the ingenuity to create their own carbon fork with flat mount brakes that will assist in the handling department and help keep the front end comfortable and responsive. As evidence of their attention to detail, Moots makes nine stock sizes for the Vamoots Disc RSL, and each size is given not only its own appropriate angles and tube lengths, but the tube diameters and wall thicknesses are adjusted according to the size. And if you still can’t find your perfect fit among the nine stock options, then there is custom sizing available from Moots, including the option to lengthen the head tube by 1cm if you like to take it a little easier on your back.
The frame also has all the modern design touches you would expect from a top-end bike. So you can build this baby up with electronic drivetrains with internal routing if you want. There are also the typically Moots-practical pump peg so you will never be caught stranded on the road and nothing to pump up your ride.
The Vamoots Disc RSL is a racing bike that keeps it real. It’s the perfect combo if you want a road bike to offer you comfort and high-tech performance.
