2019 Litespeed T1SL Disc

Though carbon has become the overwhelming choice used by manufacturers to build their bikes, to exclude consideration of any other material would potentially close you off to some seriously nice bikes that perhaps will suit your needs much better than some WorldTour intended beast. The Litespeed T1SL Disc is the perfect example of a high quality, lightweight, snappy and efficient titanium road bike that will help you focus equally on comfort and performance.

The engineers at Litespeed seriously know what they are doing when dealing with titanium. After all, in their spare time they have cooperated with NASA to help build the landing gear for the Mars rover “Curiosity”. It’s no surprise then that they are also able to make a high performing, lightweight titanium frame that will give you the rigidity and responsiveness that you would hope to get in a stiff carbon frame, but without losing the amazing ride quality that is what makes titanium such a great material for cycling. And they have managed all this while still making it the lightest production ti frame made in America. Part of the secret ingredient is the top tube has been made from a single sheet of titanium so that they could create exactly the taper to the tube that will reduce weight and increase the stiffness. Similarly, the oval-ish downtube has been developed to act as the sturdy backbone of the frame without increasing weight. Using a PF30 bottom bracket means that that most important intersecting point can be mega stiff and suit nearly any crank set you can imagine.

Available in six sizes, Litespeed has made certain to use only the amount of material that each frame size would require. That sounds obvious, but what it means is that the XS for example, has not been given the tube thickness of the XL since smaller riders are not going to be putting out the watts that cyclists a foot taller will be pumping. So you are saving that weight while not compromising the rigidity, since they have taken the precaution of double butting the bottom bracket and the headtube. They have also taken into account the different braking forces that disc brakes will require along with 12mm through axle with the Litespeed Carbon disc fork to keep your handling solid, and a 12mm Thru x 142mm for a secure back end.

The very neat internal cable routing will accommodate both mechanical and electric groupsets. And since the disc brake version of this frame weighs an impressive 1150 grams, you can look forward to enjoying how light and snappy the Litespeed T1SL Disc feels going up the climb, while the disc brakes will encourage you to rail the descent.
