2020 De Rosa King
There is hardly a more revered name in the bicycle world than De Rosa. The bike of Merckx. The bike of countless professional victories. The Prime Minister among all elite Italian bike brands. And the De Rosa King is perhaps the best loved frame of the modern output from the brand. Racy and aggressive, yet comfortable and stylish, it is the frame you’d feel like hanging on the wall to admire if you didn’t want to ride it so much.
Though they don’t quite say it this way, the King is pretty much the all-rounder in the De Rosa lineup. Lightweight, race-ready, aero-oriented and yet comfortable, it is the ideal bike for those riders who like to power through rides in aggressive positions, pushing their speeds, but also like to take longer, endurance-oriented rides and Gran Fondos. This is the perfect road bike for someone who likes each weekend’s rides to be different. The high quality carbon fiber has received the type of layup that will keep the rigidity for instant accelerations, aided in no small part by the oversized tubing allowed for by the press fit bottom bracket. But even if you are racing every weekend, you still want the ride to be smooth in addition to being snappy, and that is something the De Rosa King does without a whimper.
With its traditionally Italian geometry, you will be able to get long and low in the drops for your breakaway attempts, or if you like to make an attack on a descent. But the super smooth and reliable handling will help you always feel in complete control. The tapered front end keeps things stiff while the De Rosa fork will offer the stiffness and vibration absorption to help prevent your hands from getting numb over the course of a long ride. The King‘s internal cable routing will accommodate both mechanical and electronic groupsets with a tidy place to hide the battery in the frame.
Available in nine sizes, the De Rosa King also comes in a variety of colors that range from classic and understated to brash and vivid. Lightweight, the frame comes in around 950 grams with the fork adding just another 370 to that number. The King is light enough to be your ideal climbing bike while being comfortable enough to take on long distance adventures.
