2017 Cipollini BOND Disc
If you are the sort who likes to train in all sorts of weather conditions, or you just like the thought of having the latest and greatest for your ride build, the Cipollini Bond Disc will give you the perfect mix of race-ready performance, with thorough stopping power and braking modulation.
Even if you aren’t all that anxious to ride in the rain, we often can’t decide what sort of weather we’ll have for races, so you definitely don’t want to be caught out by an unexpected rain storm during your crit racing. You’ll certainly have the upper hand on your rim-braked buddies, especially if they are using their race-day carbon wheels. Disc brakes will give you the chance to get all the benefits of having carbon wheels without having to deal with spotty wet weather braking performance. The Bond after all is another snappy, fast handling beauty from the design-oriented Cipollini company. Not afraid to experiment with different constructions, Cipollini moves away from the full monocoque design that other Cipollini frames use. Instead only the front triangle is monocoque while the rear triangle makes use of what they call their Atomlink where the chainstays are constructed as individual pieces and then bonded to the bottom bracket area while the rear axle assembly connects the chainstays to the super sleek seat stays that elegantly meet with a wishbone shape at the top of the seat tube. Though they have been designed like that to provide a desirable level of compliance in the ride, the BB386EVO has been used for the bottom bracket and promises a rigid responsiveness that will make you feel like you are floating up a hill every time you stomp on the pedals out of the saddle.
For the carbon they have turned to T700 E UTS, which is among the lightest carbons in Toray’s line up with a UTS or Ultimate Tensile Strength that will account for the responsiveness of the ride. Another confidence builder is that the frame is made in Italy by experts working with carbon, so you can rail a descent without thinking twice. You can give a lot of the handling credit to the aero bladed fork that has been flared with the same carbon material used on the rest of the frame. Razor sharp handling will be enhanced by the hint of cushioning comfort you’ll enjoy from the tapered steerer tube. To accommodate the disc brakes, the fork and rear triangle have been designed with 12mm thru axles. All cable routing is internal and compatible with mechanical and electronic groupsets, which will allow you to customize the perfect kit for your cycling needs. The seatpost will be included with the frame, particularly since it has an aero profile, that will add to how efficiently you cut through the wind on this bike.
Having the option between rim and disc brakes always offers a pleasant agony of choice. With the Cipollini Bond Disc you can chose whatever cycling route you want to take and hammer the course regardless of what the weather forecast may be. Add a touch of class to your racing and training with the Bond Disc.
