2021 Cinelli Vigorelli Disc

Cinelli has a lot of experience in making not only track bikes but fixies for street racing. The designers have borrowed what they know from those endeavors and added it to the Vigorelli Disc which has a somewhat larger requirement to be not only street worthy, but able to take on the rough and tumble world of fast-paced road criterium racing. That means it needed gears and brakes, but what gears and what brakes? Well, taking a leaf from the fixed gear world, the Cinelli designed the Vigorelli Disc so that it can easily accommodate a 1x system with 12-speeds in the rear. That saves you from having to worry about dropped chains on rough pavement when shifting into your toughest gear for the sprint. But since the seat tube can also fit a front derailleur with a 33mm clamp, you can of course have a 2x setup if you like to have the choice of range with smaller steps between gears.

In either case, the Columbus Thron triple-butted tubing will be more than up to the task of racers everywhere since it provides the necessary lateral stiffness to ensure every acceleration looks like an attack to your competition. The bottom bracket has also been raised 20mm to allow you to pedal through the corners in a bid never to lose speed or be gapped by the wheel in front of you. The geometry is also clearly intended for these types of hour-long bursts with an aggressive reach and stack for those days you end up hanging in the wind more than you’d like.

The oversized head tube is also evidence that this is a bike that is meant to react to the slightest twitch or change of direction since crit racing is often decided by split second reactions. The disc brakes will be an amazing addition to the classic crit machine especially on rainy days since they will allow you to take even more speed into your corners. And that the frame can accommodate up to 28mm tires means that you’ll have maximum contact between rubber and ground.
