2021 Cinelli Nemo Tig
The Cinelli Nemo Tig steel racing bike is what happens when you tune a lightweight steel frame to carbon sensibilities. It really was the idea of an Italian former pro who worked at Cinelli and realized the joys of steel after racing and training on carbon all his life.
This is a high performance steel road frame that makes the most of modern steel capabilities. They hand make the steel frames in the Cinelli factory and are able to pull the tubes to a ridiculously thin sidewalls thanks to the amazing properties of Columbus steel and expertise of the Cinelli crafts people. Since they have been able to make the tubes so thin yet durable, the Nemo Tig has a weight much closer to a modern carbon frame. That doesn’t mean that it loses the classic feel of a steel road bike. Somehow the Nemo Tig takes the best of both worlds and combines it in one beguiling package.
Using the Columbus Spirit triple-butted tubes, they have mixed some classic Cinelli steel shapes – the seatstays are the identical shape that you’d find on the 1981 Cinelli Laser – with some much more modern features like the 44mm oversized downtube, the conical CNC’d head tube and the Futura straight blade monocoque carbon fork. It gives you an idea of just how good the best steel can be. As the rim brake version of the Nemo Tig, it can be kitted out with a great selection of modern rim brake components, and can accommodate up to 28mm tires, so you can even consider taking in a little gravel or farm tracks with this. The 68mm BSA bottom bracket comes standard, though they do offer a custom order for a Press Fit 86.5 bottom bracket if that’s what you’d prefer.
Not only that, but if one of the six standard sizes doesn’t suit you, they offer made to measure frames as well as up to 60 different color options. In a nutshell, that’s another huge benefit of steel: customizability. The Cinelli Nemo Tig steel racing bike for rim brakes offers a great mix of serious high performance and playful high spirits. It’s the perfect bike for anyone more interested in the scenery than their power numbers, but is still keen to get to the top of a climb quickly.
