2021 Bianchi Infinito CV Disc
Sometimes pro sponsorships don’t really add much to a bike brand. Typically in post-season musical saddles, sponsors will come and go without having had, or at least used, much feedback from the riders. That’s not the case with Bianchi and their partnership with Jumbo Visma. These two have been together several years now, and Bianchi has been happy to use the experience of the riders to develop and improve their product. Consequently, the Bianchi Infinito CV Disc can be considered a top quality, pro oriented endurance bike that will tackle the cobbles of Roubaix as well as it does the GFNY.
As is normal for bikes categorized as “endurance”, the Infinito CV Disc is focused on comfort and going those long distances, but don’t think that means this is a yawner of a bike to ride. This is race ready endurance that the Jumbo team uses to compete in the cobbled spring classics. And Bianchi sees it as the perfect bike for anyone to use who wants to train for Gran Fondos; anyone who likes to take multi-day point-to-point endurance rides; in fact anyone who has the ambition to ride far and hard, but wants to be comfortable while going fast. Using their carbon Countervail technology helps Bianchi to make the Infinito frame stiff and supple at the same time. Countervail vibration cancelling technology means that the carbon material has a unique fiber architecture and is combined with a viscoelastic resin. This viscoelastic resin helps absorb road vibrations which will not only reduce fatigue, but improve the road feel and handling of the bike. Muscle fatigue will be reduced since you are not getting micro vibrations up the tubes.
Bianchi has also tuned the geometry to work well for long distance, rough events without sapping the snap out of the Infinito’s acceleration. So a taller head tube works to help get you into an ever so slightly more upright position, while the longer chainstays help to stabilize the handling over everything from the kinderkopf cobbles to broken roadworks pavement. But perhaps the biggest comfort advantage the Infinito CV Disc has is the fact that the disc brakes and frame can accept up to 32mm wide tires, which should be more than enough to hop across those smoother vineyard gravel tracks when you are exploring California’s wine country.
And though the Infinito’s design doesn’t exactly focus on aerodynamics, there are certainly several features that will help reduce drag quite considerably. The full carbon fork has a bowed shape that helps reduce the air flow turbulence around the wheels, and gives the disc brakes room to breathe, so to speak. The aerodynamics of the integrated carbon seatpost has also been enhanced while facilitating the seatpost adjusting. The Infinito CV Disc is also compatible with Metron 5D aero cockpit that has a nice aero profile and comfortable hand positions which becomes ever more important the longer rides you take.
Of course, the addition of fully integrated disc brakes on this bike will ensure uniform braking power no matter the weather or road conditions, and will increase your ability to modulate braking in really wet conditions. After all, the longer you ride, the more likely it is you’ll run into some adverse weather. You’ll be able to get 140 and 160mm rotors fitted on the Infinito frame and fork. And the 12mm through axles will ensure you’ll feel confident in how secure the wheels are fastened.
The Bianchi Infinito CV Disc is available in seven sizes and the classic Bianchi Celeste. This is the type of bike that will make you want to ride for longer than you planned.
