2021 Bianchi Aquila CV
If you are serious about your time trialling or triathlon racing, then you should be seriously considering buying the Bianchi Aquila CV time trial bike. Quiet whispers around the pro peloton indicate that this is the best time trial bike currently on the circuit, which is not hard to believe when you see just how successful Jumbo Visma has been in time trials recently.
It will come as no surprise that Bianchi have used their hi-modulus carbon fiber to make this monocoque beauty. They have also been certain to include their proprietary Countervail material technology in the carbon layup to help cancel vibrations through the frame, which will make it more comfortable and easier to handle. To guarantee the ultimate in aerodynamics, the handlebar design features advanced NACA airfoil shape that smoothly integrates into the front area of the frame. Bianchi knows the frontal area of the bike is where they’ll make the most aero difference, so they have been certain to use CFD simulations and wind tunnel testing to ensure everything is designed to reduce drag as far as possible. That includes the airfoil shaped integrated handlebar with completely internal cable routing, the sculpted forms of the tubes and the hidden front V-brake. Similarly, the rear V-brake is positioned in the bottom bracket area to minimize the aerodynamic drag. It might not be your mechanic’s favorite setup, but it will ensure you are as aero as possible on the Bianchi Aquila CV time trial bike.
The aero-dedicated geometry has also been developed to find that perfect balance between aggressive low drag dynamics and comfort. The 76.5° seat tube angle and 72° head tube angle will settle you into an aero tuck, while the rear dropouts are adjustable to allow you to minimize the distance between the rear wheel and the seat tube, which will reduce the turbulence between the rear disc wheel and the oversized seat tube. The Aquila CV’s aluminum seatpost clamp for the aero seatpost features two different positions to allow road TT and triathlon configuration with +/- 18mm setback. The cockpit is also available with three different stem lengths, from 90mm to 115mm and 140mm, so you can find that perfect position where you can feel comfortable and put out big power at the same time.
The Bianchi Aquila CV is compatible with mechanical and electronic groupsets, with internal cable routing possible for both. It comes in four sizes: XS, S, M and L, which combined with the adjustability of the seatpost, rear dropouts and multiple stem lengths should make it easy to find the perfect setup for you. This is a powerful, stiff, and responsive time trial bike that will be an amazing weapon to use in your most important races and triathlons.
