2017 Argon 18 Xenon 24 Bike
If you have a roadie youngster at home looking to join you on your training rides, the Argon 18 Xenon 24 would be a great option to help you kid learn the finer points of handling a proper racing bike. With 24 inch wheels, it will give kids the chance to feel like they really fit their bikes, and aren’t reaching dangerously to be in control of an adult sized frame.
For kids to enjoy cycling, first they have to be comfortable with their bike. And then they have to like the looks and feel of it. With that in mind, Argon 18 have taken a lot of trouble to make the Xenon 24 the type of bike that serious cyclists would all like, but sized for young kids somewhere between the ages of 9 and 16. And since these are such important years of development for young athletes, you’ll be pleased to see how much attention to detail Argon 18 lavished on the bike. The lightweight double-butted aluminum frame has a carbon fork to keep the handling precise and prevent the road vibrations from reaching the little hands. And since control is of first and foremost importance, the Xenon 24 will use STI shift and brake levers so that the young riders will not have to remove their hands from the bars to shift.
As for the rest of the components, they have been carefully chosen to work ergonomically for smaller riders. The 152mm long crank has a 34/42 chainring combo up front with a 13-24 cassette in the back. This is the sort of gearing that junior riders will be able to push without over-doing it, but will put enough pepper in their pace that they will have a chance to hang onto your friendly Saturday group ride. The geometry has been designed to accommodate younger riders, and combined with the lightweight stability of the frame, the Xenon 24 will feel well balanced on the flats, in the climbs and most importantly on the descents.
Every young champion needs a helping hand and encouragement. Buying the Argon 18 Xenon 24 will help youngsters get a feel for what a real racing bike feels like, and motivate them to be active and enthusiastic about their cycling.
