2017 Argon 18 E-119 Tri +
With a significant improvement in aerodynamics, the E-119 Tri Plus is the successor to Argon’s flagship E-118 Next, a bike that has made its mark on the international IRONMAN circuit. True to its commitment to offer the best triathlon bikes in the world, Argon 18’s newest powerhouse is the perfect blend of exceptional aerodynamics, lightweight and flawless integration.
Designed specifically for triathlon’s, the E-119 Tri + comes equipped with nutrition and hydration storage. Mounted directly into the seatpost, behind the saddle, is a storage box with two bottle cages attached. The position of this setup can be adjusted, or it can all be removed entirely if you so desire. The box alone can also be removed, making room for a third bottle cage. Up front in the cockpit you will find the “cookie jar”, an integrated storage box on the top tube where you can store and easily access your high-energy foods while on the move. Mounted to the aerobars is the Torhans AeroZ bottle, for hands-free hydration. During a race having your replenishment food and water within easy reach can mean the difference between surging ahead and bonking.
The E-119 Tri + has aggressive triathlon-specific geometry. The seatube angle is 78°, and the saddle position can be adjusted from +28mm to -28mm. And if you are chasing the podium and traveling to races, this bike has been designed for that too: the cockpit and wheels are easily removed without any complicated hardware.
In wind tunnel tests the E-119 Tri + has an aerodynamic gain of 14.89% over its predecessor, the E-118 Next. Every aspect of this bike’s design was created to be the aerodynamic. The hidden integrated brakes on the E-119 Tri + eliminate any drag that you would get from standard brakes, while still remaining easy to access and adjust. With its streamlined handlebar and totally integrated virtual stem, Argon 18’s ONEness 3.0 cockpit has a significant impact on aerodynamic efficiency. The rocker allows you to find just the right position for the handlebars, or it can be removed altogether along with the spacer for a very low position.
