2022 Niner RKT 9 RDO RS 5-Star SRAM X01 AXS LTD Bike
When you decide you want to race XC, one of the first questions you’ll ask yourself is do you want a hardtail or full suspension. Arguments can be made in favor of each, and ideally you’ll have the chance to own both, but when you roll up to the start line racing a Niner RKT 9 RDO RS, you will never second guess your choice of ride.
The RKT 9 RDO RS is as lightweight, race ready and aggressive as you can get for cross country events. That RS stands for Race Spec, and though it shares many of the traits as the regular RKT 9 RDO, this is a full suspension XC racing rig to end all speculation. Designed to be agile, responsive and crazy fast, the Niner RKT 9 RDO RS is meant for tackling podium places. For one thing, Niner uses their excellent carbon fiber mix and layup to ensure that the RKT 9 RDO RS is stiff, durable, and able to handle those rougher routes without having to over-ply the layers.
It’s light, especially for a full suspension rig, and comes with an aggressive geometry designed to make you feel like one with the bike. Since this is a bike first and foremost meant for helping you rise to the head of the pack in the heat of the moment, they have placed nimbleness and ease of control at the heart of the design. That’s why it has been spec’d with 100mm travel in the front, which combines with the 71° head tube angle and the pretty short chainstays in order to offer that responsiveness without feeling fidgety. And the 74.5° seat angle plants you comfortably over the bottom bracket to slog it over the steepest climbs.
Anyone who chooses a full suspension over hardtail will have a cheeky advantage over the rougher courses since the suspension will help track the ground undulations that much more effectively. That is absolutely the case with Niner’s CVA linkage system. It’s a clever design the allows the pedaling action and resulting forces to work independently of rear wheel travel. So you’ll not lose traction or momentum when you pedal through all sorts of stuff that your competitors will have to coast through. With 90mm travel in the back, you will get the supple ride to fly over trail obstacles but also be able to call on the bike’s responsiveness to keep you comfortably in the lead in your races. Machined from lightweight aluminum, the linkages keep the rig lightweight and rigid, while the Enduro Max Black Oxide pivot bearings offer a whole new level of efficiency and durability.
The Niner RKT 9 RDO RS comes in five sizes and two color options. There are a variety of builds you can go with, from a 5-star job with the top stuff from SRAM or Shimano, or you can go a little easier on your wallet, and get the same great frame and linkage but with some components that will still perform super well without breaking the bank. In any case, the RKT 9 RDO RS will be there to help you conquer all comers at your races, and then still be playful enough to enjoy an afternoon at the bike park. It’ll be such a great mate, you’ll wonder where it’s been all your life.
