2019 Niner RIP 9 RDO
For anyone looking to hook up with a serious all-mountain bike that can take big hits and still isn’t a bear to climb with, the Niner RIP 9 RDO will be a fantastic option. The lightweight but durable carbon frame will be able to work with the beefy wheel and plush suspension to keep a huge smile on your face every ride.
If you are still a little skittish about using carbon frames for your biggest trails, keep in mind Niner uses their RDO Carbon Compaction to ensure the precise wall thickness required and to eliminate air pockets that could reduce the strength and durability of the frame. And that’s a good thing since they completely intend you to take this bike and ride it hard. They have dabbled with the geometry to make it perfect for the modern trail rider, and made sure that the frame will not only accommodate the eponymous 29 inch wheels with up to 2.5 inch tires, but can also work with a 27.5 plus tires up to 3.0 inches. And it’s easy to see that in either configuration, you will get loads and loads of grip. That grip will be essential to making the most of the 150mm of plush, efficient rear travel that the CVA suspension design will offer. Combined with the 160mm fork travel, you will be able to send this baby just about anywhere.
The Boost 148x12mm rear spacing will ensure those wheels are stiff enough to handle the roughest rides and enhance accelerations. You’ll probably also be happy to see that they are going with the BSA threaded 73mm bottom bracket with ISCG 05 mounts to keep things sturdy, straightforward and efficient, while working exclusively with a 1X will mean that you can get the sort of wide gear ratio that will help you get up the steepest mountain. The frame is also compatible with electronic drivetrain wiring and includes an integrated battery storage space in the frame. And for your dropper post, you can route that internally or externally depending on whether you prefer clean lines or easy access. The frame fits rotors up to 180mm so you can count of amazingly responsive braking even over long descents and steep courses.
Whether you are pedaling up some challenging inclines or raging down a tight course, the Niner RIP 9 RDO will guarantee the type of performance that will keep the confidence levels high and the speed higher.
