2018 Pinarello GAN GR Disk 105 Bike
The great thing about riding a bike that is designed around the notion of being able to use it equally well on the road as on the gravel is that you can really plan rides that will take you in all sorts of unexplored directions. With the Pinarello GAN GR Disk you will be able to enjoy a bike that feels like a racing bike when you are on the road, but can perform equally well and comfortably on those gravel sections you’d like to add onto your routes.
There are lots of gravel specific bikes on the market these days, but many of them seem to be gravel bikes designed for riders who are looking for more of a mountain bike feel. So the geometry tends to get more relaxed. And that’s great if you are planning on doing some steeper gravel trails like a mountain bike can handle. However, the GAN GR will feel more like it is a gravel bike designed by and for road riders. More aggressive geometry will keep it feeling snappy and fast on the road, while the compliance of the carbon and the shape of the Flexstays in the rear will help it absorb those rougher woodsy trails that will now be open to you.
The GAN GR has been developed to suit road cyclists who really like to ride in all conditions. So you will get a tire clearance of 38mm, and the option to stick on some mud guards if you want to turn this into an elite winter training bike. With mud guards, 32mm will be the max tire width. Of course, the use of flat mount disc brakes will mean that you can count on high powered braking in all weather conditions and terrains. The GAN GR will be offered in a Shimano 105 complete build with Fulcrum wheels that will deliver reliable performance and keep the whole bike nice and light for those longer gravel climbs.
Something else you might not expect from most gravel bikes, but will get in spades with the GAN GR is quite an aero frame design. Thanks to the fact that the F8 frame is used as a template, the GAN GR has very similar airfoil shapes to the tubes that make the F8 so slippery in the wind. You might think that is sort of a toss away attribute, but if you do start to use the GAN GR for your Gran Fondos, then you will really appreciate to have your effort made easier by being that much more aerodynamic on the open road.
The Pinarello GAN GR Disk is available in seven sizes and three color options. It will be a great way to build some quiet gravel sections into your usual road rides, or to add a few fast paved roads to your off-road adventures.
