2020 Moots Routt YBB
There are lots of bikes out there that claim to do-it-all. And lots of them can do a lot. But the Moots Routt YBB joins that versatility party with a few more tricks up its sleeve. Marrying the high quality titanium frame to the YBB rear soft-tail, the Routt YBB might just be the most comfortable gravel road bike you’ll ever find.
Moots has a great selection of bikes that manage to blur the lines of what a normal bike can be expected to do. Whether you are looking for a high performance racer that can still tackle some double track, or an adventure gravel bike that is still snappy on smooth tarmac, Moots has a great selection of dropbar bikes that will cater to the whole spectrum of preferences. The Routt YBB leans more toward the gravel grinder that will still be fun for those road sections. By focusing on those points that are so essential to the serious off-piste adventurer, Moots has ensured that no one will claim they should have given it more tire clearance, or softened the ride a little. For the first point, this micro-suspension frame has been given capacity for 45mm tires in 700c wheel sizes. And if you are looking to get seriously off-the-beaten-track, you can run 650b wheels and slap on some 52mm tires.
Now, all that rubber will inevitably give the Routt YBB a nice, smooth ride even over rough, rocky terrain. But Moots has included their YBB micro-rear suspension system to this frame. It’s not suspension in a typical mountain sense since there are no dampers or pivot points. Rather it is a soft-tail elastomer-spring system that telescopes the wishbone-style seatstay about 20mm so that all that trail chatter won’t hit your bum. The system works because this is super high quality titanium, which offers enough vertical flex that the chainstays will work with that 20mm of movement. Absorbing those vibrations will also improve the control and traction since you’ll be bouncing around a lot less. And it will help you feel much less beaten up by the end of the ride, contributing to this bike’s endurance adventure status and dependability.
If you are looking for those moonscape riding options, Moots is ready to work with you since they have made sure to make the Routt YBB compatible with a Lauf fork. So you can have the ultimate gravel adventure bike with front and rear cushioning if you’d like. Knowing that all-day and especially multi-day treks often involve inclement weather, Moots has included hidden fender eyelets, and there are three sets of water bottle bosses so you can keep a good store of hydration options while on long, lonely roads.
Moots Routt YBB is available in seven sizes, with custom geometry available for anyone who feels uncomfortably between sizes. Moots also offers color customization for the logos and branding. Moots asks Why Be Beat, and answers their own question with the Routt YBB: you don’t need to be with one of these beauties.

Etched: Etches the logos onto the frame where decals would be used
Brushed: Moots downtube, model name and seat tube gator in a subtle BRUSHED texture paired with our satin bead blast finish.
Stanley: The downtube and model name are treated with a vivid gradient. The chainstay is further embellished with a design based on the iconic hotel carpet pattern found in one of our favorite Colorado-set films.
Birch: A combination of brushing, bead blast, etching and anodizing that all add up to a striking design with subtle variations in texture.
Skyline: The top tube graphic samples the Skyline to our west and features outlines of Elk Mountain, Hahns Peak and others. The downtube logo is deep blue.
Dots: Our version of classic polka dots, for those seeking low-key eye candy. A mix of brushing, anodizing and bead-blasted anodizing; the color palette will always be the same, but each frame’s final arrangement is slightly unique.
Facet: Inspired by the likes of artists Paul Klee and Bridget Riley – as well as video-game design techniques – this pattern is rendered with bead-blasted anodizing. The colors are easy on the eyes, the branding is tasteful, and this has quickly become a factory favorite.
Panels: The classic, applied in Moots fashion. You can choose Polished as shown, or your favorite color from our anodized base colors, to make your Moots just the way you want it.
Anodized Logos: This finish option anodizes our standard Moots logos in the same locations of our decals. Customize the look of your Moots in six different colors.
