2019 Litespeed Ultimate Gravel
Litespeed have long been experts at working with titanium tubing, and their proficiency with the material is immediately apparent when you look at the tubing and shapes of the Litespeed Ultimate Gravel.
Comfort and performance always must go hand in hand with all bikes, but it becomes even more important with things like gravel oriented bikes since they will typically be ridden over rougher roads, and used for endurance adventures, but still must have the lightweight ride and responsive handling that we love in our road bikes. Squaring that circle is something that Litespeed has done extremely well with the Ultimate Gravel. After all, they didn’t name it the Ultimate Gravel for nothing. A bike has to be really good to carry that moniker. Litespeed have used their cold-worked 3AL/2.5V titanium, which is durable, and reasonably easy to work so that they can perfect each weld. They have then shaped the various tubes to enhance the aerodynamic performance. So the down tube has an aero truncated airfoil shape and the seatstays have a bladed shape and swoop up to the down tube to be both aero and vertically complaint. The top tube has been squared off to ensure that rigid stability and precise handling rule the day. The tapered head tube works in conjunction with the Litespeed Carbon Gravel fork so the handling stays sharp and little to no road chatter reaches your hands.
The geometry has been designed to offer a ton of comfort while not feeling too sluggish. It’s a hard balance to find, especially if you are naturally a roadie and don’t want to sacrifice an ounce of snappy handling. But don’t worry since you’ll still get that responsive handling while Litespeed has also done a good job mixing the generous stack and reach with a long wheelbase to ensure excellent stability on gravel descents. And with tire clearance up to 40mm with 700c wheels and 1.9 inch if you want to run some 650b hoops, you can really expect to be able to go anywhere with the Ultimate Gravel. It will be ideal for summer weeklong bikepacking adventures or winter base mile training rides. With that in mind, Litespeed offers fender mount options.
Available in five sizes, the Litespeed Ultimate Gravel will offer a wide degree of fit options for anyone looking to get that gravel grinder perfectly suited to your riding style.
