2018 Litespeed Gravel
When naming this bike, there was no need for funny puns, no mincing words. They made it for a purpose and named it accordingly. The Litespeed Gravel will leave you in no doubt that it is the ideal bike for all your dusty – or muddy – adventures.
Litespeed have focused on versatility for the Gravel, and as such have designed it to have loads of tire clearance as well as two wheel size options. You can go with a 700c wheel and slap some mega 45mm gravel tires on, or you can size down to a 27.5 inch wheel and rock a 2.1 inch mountain bike tire. It’s an ingenious feature that will mean that you can turn this from a light gravel traveler to a seriously rugged or muddy off road adventurer with the simple swap of wheels. Whether you just want to have the option of tagging on some gravel sections to your usual road training rides, or you are keen to tackle some of the longer, more demanding gravel Gran Fondos, the Litespeed Gravel has been designed to suit both pursuits and everything in between. That might sound like a bold, even foolhardy claim, but don’t underestimate the ingenuity of this bike that really does make it a master of all trades. Lightweight enough not to be a drag when your road pitches up, the titanium frame offers that smooth ride quality that makes all gravel grinds much more pleasant, but you won’t feel like the handling is dead since the Gravel has a geometry that is intended to offer a nimble, road bike ride and handling.
Then again, if you are looking to take this on your latest bikepacking adventure, the Gravel has incorporated rack and fender mounts, as well as a third bottle mount on the downtube and a storage mount on the top tube. But long days in the saddle are only fun if the bike isn’t a bone rattler, which is why the titanium makes so much sense for a bike like this. The natural vibration absorbing and shock dampening of titanium in general, and then the expert handling by the Litespeed ti gurus, means that the Gravel will offer an unparalleled level of comfort without sacrificing that race-worthy handling. But with a PF30 bottom bracket, you won’t have to worry about compromising the stiffness or rigidity of the frame, so accelerations will feel immediate and snappy. The frame has been designed to support internal cable routing for electric and mechanical groupsets while the flat mount disc brake capability will not limit you in terms of which groupsets you are keen to use to build up this baby.
Available in five sizes, you should be able to find the frame best suited to you without any trouble. The classic ti appearance of the Litespeed Gravel will look all the more sweet caked in dirt and mud. With comfort and versatility rating so high on the list of attributes, the Gravel will be an ideal choice for when you are looking to buy the best all around bike for your all terrain, all weather adventures.
