2018 Colnago GRV Ultegra R8000 Bike
If you are a serious cross racer who wants to get into some gravel rides on the side, you probably will feel very happy buying a Colnago Prestige. But if you are purely interested in the fun you can find riding gravel and woodsy double-track trails, and have no intention to race cross, then the Colnago GRV is likely the best option for you.
This is essentially the Prestige with a perfect gravel build. You will get the same geometry, which is pretty racy, and will make it possible for you to pop into your local cross series if you still feel like you have your racing legs come autumn. With the lightweight, responsive frame, you can enjoy a snappy ride through hilly forests and still feel comfortable on those longer gravel adventures that take you far and wide over the course of several hours or even several days. The fork has also been given a carbon monocoque treatment, keeping the front end light and responsive while the tapered head tube will ensure a solid feel. The fine mix of agile handling with a stable ride will make you want to race this Saturday and take this on long grinds Sunday.
The rear triangle has received a lot of attention with the stays having been designed to help clear the mud preventing untimely blockages in heavy, muddy terrain. The seatstays have been given a thin profile to help keep the ride cushioning while the beefed up chainstays will ensure you get the power to the ground. And by turning to a press fit bottom bracket, Colnago has been able to super-size that important intersection, as well as the down tube and seat tube, making the stiffness factor world class. They have also given it a 27.2mm seatpost which will keep the weight down and offer a minute springiness to the post, helping to absorb the roughest courses. Designed around flat mount disc brakes, the GRV will offer ideal braking power under all conditions, which will be important when you have a muddy gravel descent to negotiate, making the braking control essential.
Internal cable routing will help prevent mud and grime from collecting on the frame, and ensure the bike’s profile always look crisp and smart. Like the Prestige, the GRV is available in five sizes and you will get three very different color options. The Shimano Ultegra groupset and Fulcrum wheels will ensure this ride will be reliable and offer the ultimate in performance. The Colnago GRV will give you all the variety of choice that we love about riding a race-oriented gravel bike.
