2019 Alchemy Chiron
For anyone who loves spending a lot of time exploring the gravel sectors in their region or imagines what it would be like to tackle the white roads of the Tuscan Strade Bianche, then the Alchemy Chiron is the type of frame that will be a perfect companion to help you fulfill adventurous dreams. It is a lightweight titanium beauty that will offer a responsiveness mixed with a gentle ride quality to make all your gravel trails a joy and pleasure.
Alchemy has made its name as experts working with carbon in-house, but don’t forget they started honing their craft using steel and titanium tubing, so the Chiron is a direct heir to their deep knowledge of how best to make a bike comfortable and high performing. They are using 3a/2.5v titanium tubing, which offers up to 50% higher tensile strength than pure titanium, and reacts well to cold working while still being weldable and resistant to corrosion. For the welds, Alchemy follows the guidelines set up by the American Welding Society. This means the weld is flesh with the joint, no concave or convex welds and no undercutting, ensuring the reliability and durability of the frame for the long term. And they just look so impressively smooth.
By using titanium, Alchemy wants to make sure that you will enjoy a supple yet performance-oriented ride. It is really the perfect material for an endurance gravel grinder. Lightweight and durable, this titanium frame will offer 35mm tire clearance so that you can hammer home through rough dusty or muddy trails. Using the Enve 2.0 1 1/2” tapered disc the Chiron will feel snappy and secure at the same time. Meanwhile, the tapered down tube and top tube will provide increased stiffness and torque at the bottom bracket. And the PF86 makes it possible to create a large BB shell to work with the big tube shapes and increase the stiffness of the whole, while allowing for a wide range of crank options.
The frame has been designed to accommodate both mechanical and electronic groupsets with internal cable routing. It offers the option of flat mount through axle or post mount quick release dropouts, and fits 140mm rotors. Though there are five stock sizes, there is a customization option with the Chiron, as with most Alchemy bike. You will also have the choice of ordering the raw titanium classic look, or a variety of paint job options.
Whether you are a dyed in wool metal frame fan, or you are looking to find something more comfortable than your typical carbon frame options, the Alchemy Chiron is a great example of gravel grinding perfection.
