If you come from California you might bristle at the notion that Colorado is the heart of cycling country in America. And though we are not interested in the least in making any such controversial statements, we would like to emphasize how appropriate it seems that a bike brand like Alchemy, which makes such an impressive array of high quality bikes, should be based in Denver, Colorado, just off one of the bike paths that forms a cycling artery for the region.
These days it is often taken for granted that all bikes are made in East Asia. A large portion of them are, and there’s no need to start an argument about that either. But still, it makes it just a little more special when we find a manufacturer who makes it a point of pride to do as much of their work in house, which is exactly what Alchemy does.
For their cross bikes, you have the choice of going with a pure cross racer like the Balius, which has a carbon frame and geometry that is perfect for the nimble handling required in cross racing, or you can roll with an adventure-oriented bike like the Aithon. There is even a titanium option with the Chiron. Whether we are talking carbon or titanium, Alchemy has a selection of off the peg and custom options that will certainly help you find the motivation to head out for that rainy ride or to add that extra hour to the day’s training route.
And we must admit to having a soft spot for any company that obviously appreciates its classical Greek mythology enough to find the appropriate name for its various bicycle creations. None of those coded, incomprehensible acronyms for Alchemy. These are bikes designed to get people excited about riding, and that’s all the better. If your passion is cycling, then have a look at the Alchemy selection and see where your interests dovetail.
