Let’s be frank: gravel grinding is a different animal compared to cross racing. One is all about pleasure, the other you could be forgiven for thinking is all about pain. Because cross racing hurts, a lot. Burning lungs, burning legs, and that’s just in the first five minutes of the race. But having a nimble yet comfy bike will make you want to push your cross racing limits even further, which is why the Psychlo X RSL will be a great option for anyone who looks forward to the chill in the air that signals the end of the road season and beginning of the cross.
The essence of a cross bike is its combination of quick handling and durability. As with all Moots bike, the Psychlo X RSL has been given size-specific geometry for each one so that you won’t be stuck with too steep or too slack seat angles, and the reach will be just perfect for quick maneuvering in tight courses. The head tube has received a lot of attention too, since it also been specially butted to increase the stiffness without adding on the weight. But they don’t stop there since each bike has also been given size-specific tubes with things like tube thickness and shapes being strategically guided by the size of the frame. Smaller frames don’t need the same tube thickness as the larger frames. That doesn’t mean that the smaller frames will be wigglier. Not at all. Part of the rigidity of the frames across all sizes is thanks to the PF 30 bottom bracket that forms the soul of the Psychlo X RSL and ensures a stiffness in that essential region that guarantees pedaling efficiency and snappy accelerations when you decide to put the power down.
The frame has also been given interesting design touches like a rear triangle that offers tons of tire clearance while an integrated electronic wire tunnel through the chain stay to keep things neat and clean. The flat mount brakes with the 3D printed rear dropout allows for the disc caliper to be tucked inside the rear triangle to continue the clean look and offer that extra bit of protection from damage those times you take a tumble. Available in seven sizes with custom geometry always an option at Moots, the Psychlo X RSL can become the perfect cyclocross racing bike for your autumnal leg breaking exploits.
