2015 Pinarello Dogma XC 9.9
Pinarello is constantly using their conscious expertise in innovating the world of bicycles. The Dogma XC 9.9 + Fox 32 Factory Spec Fork, part of the Pinarello 2015 collection, is a prime example of the innovation that truly defies conventional thinking.
Mountain biking is no joke; climbing up steep rugged terrain to descents down hair raising singletrack, making jumps over rock-fields and turning at the last minute to avoid hitting an unforeseen obsical, all in the name of good old fun. The joy of mountain biking is in the thrill, but sometimes your body feels the pain which can be distracting to the mind and damage your performance. People often have to choose whether they want to be able to climb faster (hardtail frames) or if they prefer a softer landing (full-suspension frames); it’s almost always a given that all hardtail MTB frames constantly send those nasty vibrations throughout your body. And yet, can a hardtail MTB frame actually accommodate your body’s well-being?
The answer to the above question lies in the anatomy of the traditional mountain bike frames. All MTB frames on the market have an extended front triangle, but not the Dogma XC 29er. The front triangle is normally extended so that the front wheel can rotate 360 degrees. When you look at normal mountain bike frames, you’ll see that the front triangle is stretched out, which creates a weaker and less stiff frame. Pinarello’s Dogma XC 9.9 has a perfect right triangle instead, just like a road bike frame. This PINAFIT technology ensures that you have strong lateral stiffness to help you keep pushing ahead, immensely improving your performance. In addition, “the Forkstopper also protects frame and handlebars in case of falls, preventing their impact with the top tube.” The PINAFIT right triangle and smart Forkstopper technology really do help make this MTB one of the most intelligent designs on the market.
Another innovation which helps reduce the shock from offroad cycling lies in the rear triangle’s design. Normally the seatstays are connected at the same point with both the top tube and the seat tube, which helps send vibrations throughout the entire bike. By thinking outside of the box, the 2014 Dogma XC 9.9 + Fox 32 (29er) MTB frame drastically reduces this problem through a revolutionary, yet simple concept. By separating the seat stays both vertically and laterally at two different points slightly higher to the top tube and seat tube, the ONDA XC Twin Arms Asymmetric helps dissipate vibrations evenly with no compromise for performance. Due to the asymmetric bifurcated rear stays, the shock is drastically reduced in the rear, letting you concentrate on more important things like making that sharp turn after you jump over the ditch.
With a carbon 60HM1K frame with new Torayca nanoalloy technology, the Pinarello Dogma XC 9.9’s frame is “59% more resistant than conventional carbon fibbers.” Preventing carbon fiber snaps are key to protecting your safety from violent impacts that are almost too common in mountain biking. True to its philosophy, Pinarello has once again used their expertise to create a MTB that pushes the boundaries of what a hardtail mountain bike can do.
