2017 Niner BSB 9 RDO
The Niner BSB 9 RDO is for the cyclocross riders who enjoy blood, sweat, and beers!
This year the Niner BSB 9 RDO features a higher bottom bracket, steeper head tube angle, and shorter wheelbase and chainstay. This all comes together to make the BSB feel tighter, more nimble, and a lot more explosive. This year’s frame comes at sub 1000g with all new carbon technology.
At the heart of RDO is a process called the Carbon Compaction System. Niner describes it this way, “For a carbon structure to be as light, strong and durable as possible, the layers of carbon cloth need to be properly aligned with as few voids and extra resin as possible.” They achieve this by wrapping carbon around an EPS foam internal mandrel and then compact the entire system inside a mold. That way they can control wall thickness throughout the frame and force out any extra resin. What does this mean? Besides making the frame strong and durable, they shave 10% off the total frame weight. The paint on this bike is sparse, contributing a good 40-50 grams in weight savings, something a serious rider will appreciate.
Niner has introduced “friendly flats” for comfortable shoulder positioning and thoughtful placement of cables to aid in the best barrier technique. The front triangle is free of cable guides and the routing of the external brake on the side of the downtube keeping cables away from you when shouldering the bike. What this means is you can lift and carry this bike with comfort whenever the trail gets too rough to ride.
Large access windows in the frame make maintenance a breeze and Di2 routing less of headache. Post mounting the rear brake helps prevent any heel strikes.
Niner has also set up the BSB cyclocross frame for internal routing and electronic-ready seatpost battery mounts. Also paired is the RDO Cyclocross Fork, a carbon fork that has set the standard for weight, ride quality, and safety for years.
So if you are serious about racing, if you want a bike that has performance at the forefront of every design choice, look no further.
